Remembering the lives of ….. Bob and Darla Messamaker Holmes Entered into rest December 29, 2003.
Robert and Darla Holmes passed away on December 29, 2003. Bob died at the Hospice Comfort House in Pella, Iowa, after battling cancer since March of 2003.
Darla passed away later that day following a sudden heart attack at her home in Pella.
Bob, son of Robert and Winifred (McDonald) Holmes, was born July 30, 1946 in Chariton, Iowa. He was raised in Knoxville and lived in Louisiana, Colorado, and Knoxville, Iowa before moving to Pella seven years ago.
Darla, the daughter of William and Elsie (Bryant) Messamaker, was born on April 24, 1946 in Knoxville, Iowa. She lived in the Russell and Harvey area before moving to Pella in 1976.
On June 14, 1997, Bob and Darla were united in marriage at a friend’s home near Knoxville and made their home in Pella.
They are survived by Bob’s three daughters, Robin Cox of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jennifer Holmes of Phoeniz, Arizona and Jamie Holmes of Phoeniz, Arizona; Darla’s two sons, Dan and David Morgan, both of Oskaloosa, Iowa; four grandchildren, Katelyn and Jacob Cox of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Danny and Hunter Morgan of Oskaloosa, Iowa; Bob’s sister Denise Holmes of Knoxville; Bob’s brother, John Holmes of Knoxville; and Darla’s brother, Ronald Messamaker of Tracy, Iowa
They were preceded in death by Bob’s mother and father, Winifred and Robert Holmes; and Darla’s parents, William and Elsie Messamaker.
