William “Bill” “Cooner” Edward Hull, 48, of Newton died on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 13, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, at the funeral home. Memorials in Bill’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Bill, the son of Don Hull and Connie (Walter) Lane, was born on February 12, 1971, in Oskaloosa. He grew up in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1990. Following high school, Bill worked at the Maytag Company in Newton.

On May 14, 1994, Bill was united in marriage with Dawn Berriman at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax. They made their home in Newton.

Bill later returned to school at Indian Hills Community College and received his A.A.S. in Criminal Justice and his A.A. in Arts and Science. For ten years, Bill worked for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer. Billy Hull

Most recently he was working for Manatts. Bill was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He liked being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and cutting wood. Bill also loved going to his children’s activities.

Bill is survived by his wife, Dawn Hull of Newton; children, Tanner Hull, Koby (Michelle) Hull, Ross Hull, and Lainey Hull, all of Newton; grandson, Hunter Hull; his father, Don Hull of Knoxville; mother, Connie (Mark) Lane of Knoxville; his sisters, Ann (Burt) Kingery of Knoxville and Katie (Trevor) Minard of Prairie City; godparents, Jim and Shirley Beary of Lovilla; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and stepmother, Kathie Hull.
