Funeral services for Billy William Thomas Hanna, 66, of Chariton, who died on Sept. 3, 1989 at the Mercy Medical Center, were held on Sept. 7, at Williams Funeral Home.

Interment was in Breckenridge Cemetery in Marian County.

Rev. Paul Smith officiated at the services. Music was provided by Darlene Mooberry, the organist.

Pallbearers were Bill Hanna, Mike Hanna, Eric Hunt, Jeff Hanna, Jeremy Hanna, Mark Hodges, and Bob Graves.

Mr. Hanna was born on March 27, 1923, near Harvey, the son of Edith Belle Haines and Cresco Andrew Hanna. He graduated from Knoxville High School.

Mr. Hanna married Bettie L. Hart, on Dec. 14, 1941, in Kirksville, Mo

Bill served in the U.S. Army, farmed near Harvey and later Knoxville, and also worked for the Sinclair Coal Mine and as a conservation aide for the U.S.C.S. He retired from the Knoxville V.A. Medical Center after 28 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister

He is survived by his wife Bettie of rural Chariton, one daughter, Penelope I. Hunt of Sebastopol, Calif.; two sons, J.D. Hanna of Marion, Ark. and Tom Hanna of Chariton; nine grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. Clayborn (Phyllis) Barnett and Mrs. Dorothy Core of Knoxville, and Mrs. Burns (Janis) McDonnell of Des Moines as well as other friends and relatives.

A memorial has been established to the Pleasant Prairie Methodist Church.
