Services for William L. South, 48, of Knoxville, who passed away April 5, 1992, at University Hospitals in Iowa City, were held April 9 at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Rev. Philip Cardenzana officiated at the services. Music was provided by Sister Roberta Klesener

Casketbearers were Keith Marshall, Thomas Marshall, Bill Schlotterback, Kenneth Marshall, Charles Marshall, and Richard Reed.
Ronald Mashall was the honorary casket bearer.

William was born on Jan. 25, 1944, in Ottumwa, the son of Lawrence and Dale Helen Shick South. He attended school in Knoxville before moving to San Pedro, Calif. He graduated from San Pedro High School in 1963 and moved back to Knoxville.

He married Sonja Marshall on Sept. 9, 1963, in Knoxville. They moved back to California where William attended Harbour City College.

He worked for several companies in California and he continued his education as a maintenance mechanic. They moved back to Knoxville in 1989.
He was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Des Moines and later by American Wood Products
in Pella, where he retired due to ill health.

He enjoyed his hobbies of raising roses and tinkering with his computer.

He is survived by his wife of Knoxville; four sons, Lawrence McDuffy of California, William, Jr., and Larry, both of Knoxville, and Asa of Des Moines; two daughters, Suzie Wilkerson of Des Moines and Krystle at home; his mother, Dale Helen Schmidt of San Pedro; one brother, Joe of Escondido, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Ralph (Donna), Caylor of Springfield, Mo.; eleven grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
