Services for William "Bill" David Loynachan, 49, of Reinbeck and formerly of Knoxville,
who died of cancer on Jan. 20, 1993, in Waterloo, were Jan. 23, 1993 at the First
United Methodist Church in Knoxville
Burial was at the Breckenridge Cemetery in Marion County. The Rev. Martha Ward officiated
at the service. Music was provided by James Kidder. Pallbearers were Kenneth Loynachan,
Buddy Loynachan, Neil Rankin, Roger Brooks, Jim Lenius and Roger Murr.
He was born on Nov. 22, 1943, in Oskaloosa, the son of Neil D. and Helen 0. Bruere
Loynachan. His first six years were spent on a farm near Tracy, after which the
family moved to a farm near Knoxville. He attended Elm Ridge country school through
the eighth grade, and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1962.
After graduation,
Bill worked for the Fonda Furnace Company for one year. Upon graduating with a degree
in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University in 1965, he accepted employment
with the John Deere Product Engineering Center in Waterloo, where he was still employed
at the time of his death.
On July 14, 1973, he was married to Mary K. Murr in Columbia, Iowa. The couple had
made their home in Reinbeck since they were married. Bill was a member of the Iowa
National Guard for six years. He was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. and Fort
Huachua, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his mother. Survivors include his wife
of Reinbeck; his father and step-mother, Neil and Dorothy Loynachan of Knoxville;
on brother, Kenneth Max Loynachan of Knoxville; one stepbrother; Melvin Beaver of
Melcher; one step-sister, Sandy Agan of Knoxville; two nieces and seven step-nephews.
The Bybee and Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
