Betty Louise (Simbro) Shinn age 83, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday morning March 10, 2013, at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics.

Betty was born in Red Rock on Sept. 14, 1929, the daughter of Charles E. and Dorothy Mildred (Sanders) Simbro.

She attended Knoxville schools and moved to Los Angeles, Calif., when she was a teenager.

On Sept. 29, 1945, in Tijuana, Mexico, Betty and Noel Carl “Junior” Shinn were united in marriage.

They were blessed with over 67 years of marriage before Betty’s passing.

Betty and Junior lived a short time in Los Angeles before moving back to Knoxville.

Betty was a homemaker most of her life, raising her children: Dean, Connie and Marty.
She had also worked at Laura’s Cafe in Knoxville and enjoyed bowling for several years.

Betty is survived by her husband Junior Shinn of Knoxville; their children: Dean (Jan) Shinn of Knoxville, Connie (Tom) Pregon of Knoxville, and Marty (Brenda) Shinn of Pella; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; and her special brother Junior Coe of California.

Betty is also survived by her siblings: Eugene (Gladys) Simbro of Knoxville, Arlene (Bill) Hicks of Newton, Ronald (Gail) Simbro of Milroy, Ind., Sharon (Ray) Wetterling of Bruce, Wis., Jim (Jane) Simbro of Grinnell, and Charles D. (Bunny) Simbro of Baldwin, Wis.

She was preceded by her parents; one son in infancy: William Earl Shinn; three brothers and two sisters.

Per Betty’s wishes she has been cremated and her Celebration of Life Service was held on Wednesday, March 13, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville.

A family burial will be held at a later date at Graceland Cemetery of Knoxville.A memorial may be given to the donor’s choice in Betty’s name.
