Betty Darlene (DeMoss) Quinnett was born July 11, 1925, in Des Moines, the daughter of Edwin and Ora (DeMoss) Quinnett.
She was raised in Knoxville, and as a young woman Betty cleaned houses and worked as a waitress. In later years, Betty worked at the Knoxville VA Hospital in the laundry department.
She eventually retired from the VA after 22 years of service. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed her cats, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a faithful member of the New Covenant Church.
Betty passed away on Jan. 19, 2009, at the Mercy Hospital, in Des Moines, at the age of 83.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 brothers. and sisters.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Joyce (Jon) Davis of Knoxville; son, Tim (Paula) Cowman of Quincy, Ill.; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a great grandchild. For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Marion County Humane Society.
