Bernita Joy Deaver, 65, of Mitchellville died
of cancer Tuesday at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday
at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home in Des Moines, with burial
at Laurel Hill Cemetery there.

Mrs. Deaver was born in Jefferson and had lived in Oskaloosa, Knoxville,
Mitchellville and Melrose before returning to Mitchellville.

She was a meter maid with the city of Des Moines and active with Avon and Tupperware, earning awards for her work with Avon. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for her family and flower gardening. She had an extensive bell collection.

She is survived by her husband, Harry; three daughters, Deb Stephenson of Des Moines, Cindy Huseby of North Branch. Minn., and Angie Arnold of Mitchellville; two sons, Bob of Des Moines and John of Pleasant Hill; two sisters, Velma Stougard of Des Moines and Barbara Germain of Grimes; a brother, Clarence Purvis of Marshalltown; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

or Hospice of Central Iowa.
