Funeral services for Beneti May (Mart) Baker, 89, of Knoxville, who died on Tuesday, September 19, 2000 at West Ridge Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville, were held on Thursday, September 21 at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. Elders Sam Nichols and Dr. Dick Young officiated at the services. Darlene Mooberry was organist.

Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Casket bearers were Jim Trinkle,
Bill McDonald, Richard Beneti May Baker Rowley, Paul Wright, Jim Hicks and Don Slocum.

Beneti was born on August 13, 1911, to Jess E. and Julia Allen Mart near Attica
in Marion County. She grew up in the Columbia and Knoxville area.
She attended and graduated from Knoxville High School. Following high school, she worked in a variety
store.

She was married to Robert William Baker in Holden, Mo. on December 15, 1940. She
and her husband made their home in several communities, including Holden arid Independence,
Mo., Knoxville, Oskaloosa, Bedford, Coming, and Tacoma, Wash. before moving back
to Knoxville in 1972. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars for over 50
years.

Beneti was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Dwight, James
and Howard; and four sisters, Lois, Cleta, Gladys and Hatlie.

Arrangements were made by Williams Funeral Home.
