Arthur Daniel “Bud” Dainty was born on June 9, 1934, in Knoxville, the son of Frank
Albot “Tug” and Mabel Olive (Hendrix) Dainty. After he graduated from Knoxville
High School, Bud attended Iowa State Teachers College, where he played football.

He married Kay Thompson on June 22, 1954. Bud served in the Army for three years
during the Korean War before returning to the Iowa State Teachers College. He then
went to work in the coal mines, and then at Harrison’s.

Bud and his family lived
in Des Moines, Carlisle and Chicago before finally returning to Knoxville in 2000.
He then began working at DeVore Factory Direct Homes. Bud was a sports fanatic,
but he especially enjoyed golf and played in a pro-am tournament.

He also liked
music and was a, soloist at the Iowa State Fair. He was also a stanch Democrat.
Bud’s greatest joy was his family and he especially loved his grandchildren.

Bud
died April 6, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 71. He was preceded
in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Barney Sneller and daughter-in-law, Sara Dainty.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kay; children, Diana Dainty
(Julie) of Knoxville, Stephen Dainty (Nancy) of Des Moines, Stewart Dainty (Jane)
of Kearney, Mo., Scott Dainty of Knoxville and Linda Dainty (Joel) of Des Moines;
ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and sisters, Connie Jordan of Knoxville
and Mary Lee Sneller of Oklahoma City, Okla.
