Arlo William Turner was born March 1, 1922, in White Breast Township, Warren County. He was one of three children born to Rachel Elizabeth Baker and Arlo Paul Turner
Even though Arlo moved from Knoxville as a young man, he always referred to it as his home. Arlo served in the United States Army during World War II. He saw action in Northern France, the Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes.
He received the good conduct medal and Croix de Cuerre with Palm. Arlo was a retiree of Western Electric Telephone Company. He was also a 50 year member of the American Legion and proud lifetime member of the NRA (National Rifle Association)
Arlo was a true outdoorsman who taught his family to hunt, fish and enjoy life. His family will miss his sense of humor, twinkling blue eyes and smile.
Arlo William Turner passed away on April 30, 2007, at his home in Milwaukee, Wis. At the age of 85.
Arlo was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Truman and Doris Bauer; and his former wife, Helen Jean Lingle.
Those left to mourn his passing are six children; Paul, Randy, Connie, Kerri, Ron and Don. Grandchildren; great-grandchildren and ve ry special friend, Lorraine Evans of Grand Forks, N.D.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 21, at Greenwood Cemetery at 11 a.m. Military honors will be provided by John Myers VFW Post #3519 and BatyTucker American Legion Post # 168. Condolence messages may be sent to the family at williamsfhknoxville.com.
