Arlen Douglas Foster, son of Clyde and Eva (Moon) Foster, was born on July 22, 1932 in Knoxville, Iowa. Arlen passed away November 5, 2015 at Eldora Specialty Care, Eldora, Iowa under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice, Waterloo, Iowa.

Arlen was united in marriage to Janice Nadiene Borland on June 8, 1958. Jan passed away February 21, 2009.

Arlen is survived by his 5 children, Allyn (Laurie) Foster of Middleton, Idaho, Lynne (David) Musk of San Antonio, Texas, Kim (Greg) Lindaman, Wellsburg, Iowa, Mindy (Patrick) Smith Kansas City, Kansas and Mike (Masae) Foster, Jacksonville, Florida.

Arlen had 9 grandchildren; Andrew Foster, Meghan Musk, Kelsey (Adam) Alpert, Mackenzie (Tyler) Sprain, Zach Lindaman, Amber and Abbey Smith, and Kimi and Austin Foster. Arlen also had one great grandchild, Payton Alpert

Arlen Graduated from Knoxville High School in 1951. He had enrolled in the National Guard Program while in high school and then enlisted in the Army and served as a MP at Camp Gordon, Georgia. He then attended and graduated from Upper Iowa University on the GI bill. UIU was near and dear to Arlen as he met his wife Jan there and played on a very successful UIU Peacock Basketball team.

Arlen was fortunate to teach history, drivers ed and coach girls athletics in several Iowa High Schools including: Quasketon, Cardinal Community of Eldon, Iowa Valley of Morengo, Wellsburg, Mormon Trail of Humeston, and Lineville Clio in a 40 year career.

Arlen was inducted into the Iowa Girls Coaches Hall of Fame in 2009. This event and being able to coach all three of his girls on the basketball court at one time were the highlights of his career.

Arlen was an avid Iowa Hawkeye sports fan. He spent many hours listening to the radio and watching them on tv. He was also a rowdy color commentator.

Preceding Arlen in death were his Parents, brother Greg and wife Jan.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 25th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa. A private family service will follow with a family graveside burial in the Clio Cemetery.
