Andrea Jo (McCullough) Loukota, a kind and welcoming individual known for her great sense of humor, passed away on September 6, 2023, in Iowa City, Iowa.

She was born on November 1, 1983, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Andrea was a beloved daughter, sister, mother of three sons, and registered nurse who made a significant impact on the lives of those she cared for. Her unwavering dedication to her profession and loving nature will be greatly missed.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given in her memory to Judy Sommar or Mike McCullough and will be designated to her three sons.

Growing up in Knoxville, Iowa, Andrea attended Knoxville High School and graduated in 2002. She then pursued further education at Mercy College of Health Sciences, earning her Registered Nursing Degree in 2006. Armed with her qualifications and compassionate heart, Andrea began her career as a registered nurse at Mercy Medical Center before transitioning to the surgery department at Knoxville Hospital. Her commitment to providing quality healthcare and comforting those in need left an indelible mark on the medical community.

Andrea was united in marriage to Corey Loukota, and they were blessed with three sons. They later divorced. She began a relationship with Robert Poppe in May of 2022.

Beyond her contributions as a nurse, Andrea had a vibrant personality that radiated kindness and warmth. Her love for laughter brightened the lives of everyone around her.

In her spare time, Andrea enjoyed indulging in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was getting lost in the pages of a book or challenging herself with puzzles, she found solace and joy in these activities. Additionally, she cherished moments spent watching her boys fish; their shared experiences created cherished memories.

Andrea’s love extended to her family as well. She leaves behind three sons: Carter Brett, Dane Michael, and Connor John – each a reflection of their mother’s generous spirit. May they find comfort in knowing that their mother’s love will forever guide them through life’s ups and downs.Andrea McCullough

She is survived by her mother, Judy (Greg) Sommar, and father, Mike (Marsha) McCullough; brothers, Scott and Joel McCullough; sister Marissa McCullough; companion, Robert Poppe; and grandma Lee Gullion. Andrea’s grandparents, Don and Eunice Vos, John and Connie McCullough, and Arthur “Pat” Gullion were also important figures in her life.

In addition to her human loved ones, Andrea shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Luna.

Andrea Jo Loukota’s departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. Her dedication as a nurse, loving nature, and sense of humor will forever be remembered. The legacy she leaves behind is a testament to her strength and selflessness.

May she rest in peace knowing that she had a profound impact on the lives she touched.
