Funeral services for Mrs. Alta (Smith) Harvey, who died Oct, 16, 1964, at Collins Memorial hospital, were held from William funeral home Oct. 18 with burial in Greenwood cemetery.
Rev. Paul P. Kniess and Rev. Howard Harris officiated.
Casketbearers were Raymond Zeigler, Billy McCorkle, Eugene Harvey, Dwight Harvey. Donald Harsin and Howard King. Mrs. Owen Elliott, organist accompanied Mrs. William Davis, soloist: Mrs. Earl Legler and Mrs. Thomas Young were in charge of flowers.
Alta Marie, daughter of John and Arvilia Smith, was born Nov. 18, 1896 in the Valley neighborhood, attended Scott rural school and graduated from Knoxville high school in 1915.
She was married to Lorin S. Harvey and lived on a farm just south of town until building a new home in Knoxville. She transferred to First Presbyterian church from Valley Methodist church.
She was treasurer of the Brownlee school board for several years and served as chairman of the Garden Division of Knoxville Women’s club for two years.
She is survived by her husband; two sons Bobbie S. of near Tracy, Teddy L. and a daughter Arvilia Bailey of Knoxville; nine grandchildren; three sisters Mrs. Louie Beebout, Mrs. Alma King and Mrs. Irene Harsin.
