Funeral services for Reverend Alexander Luverne Kloster, Jr., 52, of Keokuk, who died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at the Keokuk Area Hospital, were held Thursday, June 15 at 1 p.m. at the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk. Reverend Crawford Coon officiated at the services. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.

Alex was born 0n November 30, 1947, in Knoxville, the son of Alexander Luverne Kloster, Sr. and Verna Raschke Kloster.

Alex was married to Virginia Kinney on September 7, 1968, in Des Moines. He attended Iowa State University in Ames and graduated from Texas Bible College in 1972 as Valedictorian of his class. He assisted Reverend Crawford Coon in Columbus, Ind., from 1972 to 1973.

In May of 1973, he moved to Keokuk to serve as pastor of the Apostolic Faith United Pentecostal Church. He was the Harvestime Director of the Iowa District United Pentecostal Church, and also served as secretary/treasurer of Section 4 of the Iowa District United Pentecostal Church. He loved being with his family and being involved in church activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; one son, Reverend Alexander Kloster III and his wife Charlene of Keokuk; two daughters, Jennifer Kristen Burgess and her husband lst Lt. James Burgess of Ft. Stewart, Ga., and Krista Ruth Kloster of Keokuk; one grandchild, Kaitlin Burgess; one sister, Alverna Dubovis and her husband Jerry of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; two brothers, Lynn Kloster and his wife Bridget of Kansas City, Mo., and Karl Kloster and his wife Kathy of Knoxville; three brothers-in-law, Laurence Kinney and his wife Bonny of St. Paul, Minn., Reverend Paul Kinney and his wife Brenda of Canton, Mo, and Reverend Brian Kinney and his wife Pam of Onawa; two sisters-in-law, Marian Robinson and her husband Robert of Lyons, Neb., and Patricia Kermoade and her husband Kelly of Canton., Mo.; and a close friend of the family, Debra Brunk of Canton, Mo.

Memorials may be made to Apostolic Faith United Church of Keokuk. Arrangements were made by Vigen Memorial Home.
