Alberta Frances (Glover) Rowley was born October 27, 1928 in Marion County, Iowa, on her family farm – south of Donnelly corners, the daughter of John Oscar Glover and Pearl Isabell (Swayne) Glover.
She was raised on the farm and attended country and Knoxville schools.
On June 12, 1945 she was united in marriage to Harold Dean Rowley at the United Methodist Parsonage. To this union four children were born: Roger Dean, John Irvin, Connie Jo and Randy Ellis. The couple raised their family on a farm north of Knoxville.
As a farm wife, Alberta took care of the home, milked cows, and raised beef cattle and horses. In later years she worked in food service at the Knoxville V.A. and the Maple Buffet. In her spare time, she enjoyed flower gardening and making ceramics. She also played cards for years with the Stittsworth, Heaberlin, Rinehart, and the DeVos families.
She was a wonderful mother and loved Christmas with her family, riding horses with the kids and serving as a Girl Scout leader.
Alberta passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 85 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, John and her siblings: Jerry and Evelyn.
Those left to mourn her passing include her children: Roger (Martha) Rowley of Pleasant Hill, Connie(Oral) Van Sickle of Sac City and Randy (Jackie) Rowley of Knoxville; many grand, great and great-great grandchildren; brothers: Raymond, Dwight (Teresa) and Dwayne Glover all of Knoxville and many other family members and friends.
