Alberta Jean (Finarty) Mart was born December 3, 1928, in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Thomas and Jessie L. (Wilson) Finarty.

She graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 1946. Following graduation, Alberta worked for Remy Insurance Agency.

On October 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to James Norman Mart. To this union, four children were born.

As the children got older, Alberta re-entered the workforce. She was a secretary for attorneys Leon Miller and Warren Reiter and also Johnson, Jordan & Lane before retiring from the Knoxville V.A. Medical Center.

In her spare time, Alberta was an avid gardener and seamstress.
Alberta passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, at the West Ridge Nursing Center at the age of 92 years.

In addition to her parents, Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, James, and sisters, Vera Mae Harvey and Florence Agan.

Those left to honor Alberta’s memory include her daughters: Carol Robbins of Knoxville, Linda Des Camps (Rick) of Knoxville, Jean McCormick (Ivan) of Pleasantville, and Jan Mott (Roger) of Pleasantville; sister, Pat Patty of Newton; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Alberta has been cremated and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to EveryStep Hospice or to the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville.
