Willard (Will) Duane Dainty passed away on January 5, 2010, after a long battle with bone cancer.
Willard was born August 12, 1933 in Knoxville, Iowa to Wilbert and Alice Dainty.
He spent all of his childhood years in Knoxville.
After graduating from Knoxville High School, he moved to Des Moines. He was united
to marriage to Joyce Erb in 1959 and they made their home in Carlisle, Iowa. Willard
worked for Ford Motor Company for several years and also worked for Townsend Engineering
for twenty years retired in 1990 from Townsend. During his employment with Townsend,
he and his wife were able to be part of their company trips traveling to Hawaii,
Puerto Rico, The Bahamas, Las Vegas, and several other wonderful places with many
joyous memories.
Willard really enjoyed life and especially like the time he spent with his wife
at their cabin at Lake Rathbun. He loved boating, fishing, and watching sunsets,
but always had to be back to watch Nascar races on Sundays with his sons.
He also enjoyed special times with his two grand-daughters Darcy and Tiffany and
his grandson Austin, who made him several drawings, which Willard treasured.
Willard was a very special person. He had several medical issues throughout his
life yet always remained in good spirits and cheerful at all times. He truly loved
people and his family.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Joyce; sons, Rick (Julie) Dainty of Carlisle,
Tod Dainty of Indianola; three grandchildren, Austin, Darcy, and Tiffany; and a sister,
Thayne (Larry) Ireland of Ankeny. Also nephew, Chad Ireland; nieces, Brook Ireland,
Terri Dainty, and Sunny Dainty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert
and Alice Dainty; brother, David Dainty; and a niece, Sabra Ireland.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2010, at Peterson Funeral Home
in Carlisle, with family present to greet friends. Funeral services will be held
at 11 a.m., January 9, 2010, at the Carlisle United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Carlisle Fire and Rescue Department.
