Ronald Edwin Simpson was born October 11, 1935 in Hiteman, Iowa the son of Ralph Alfred Simpson and Amelia (Leggett) Simpson.

He was primarily raised in the Knoxville area and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1954. Following high school, Ron went to work for Hy-Vee Food Store.

On December 29, 1956 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Joan Miller, at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born: LaNae and Denise. Ron continued to work at Hy-Vee until his retirement after 42 years of service.

In his spare time, Ron enjoyed woodworking, cards and games, fishing and keeping his yard immaculately groomed. When the girls were younger he and Marilyn enjoyed taking them on many bike rides. Most important in Ron’s life was his family and he was especially proud of his grandchildren.

Ron passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Edencrest Care Center, in Ankeny, at the age of 83 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn and siblings: Peggy Stevenson, JoAnn May and Bill Simpson.

Those left to honor Ron’s memory include his daughters: LaNae (Jerry) Reyburn of Geneseo, Illinois and Denise (Kerry) Mounsey of Ankeny; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

A Funeral Service for Ronald Simpson, age 83 of Knoxville, will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Ron’s family to be designated at a later date.
