Funeral services for Robert Eugene Hendrix, 73 of West Des Moines, who died January
8, 2000 at Hospice Kavanagh House in West Des Moines were held at Evans-McCleery.

Masonic services were held at the funeral home on January 11, Reverend William Calhoun
officiated at the services. Music was provided by Katie Davis soloist. Burial was
at Graceland cemetery. Casketbearers were Richard Sullivan, Chuck Erb, Herb Gilchrist,
Danny Marsh and Harry Braafhart. Honorary bearers were Willard Dainty, Bill Wooldridge,
Bob Edwards, Kenneth Nichols, and Don Robinson.

Bob was born on November 20, 1926 in Knoxville, the son of Roy and Blanche Jarman
Hendrix. He attended school in Knoxville. He served with the United States Navy
during WWII.

Bob married Ruth Helen Lange in August 10, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua,
Iowa. They lived in Knoxville before moving to Carlisle, Iowa in 1957.

Bob was retired from General Mills in Carlisle.
<br />
<br />
Following the death of his wife in 1989 he moved back to Knoxville and then moved
to West Des Moines in 1998. He enjoyed auctioneering, woodworking, hunting and fishing.
He was also an active Mason and member of Marble Lodge in Carlisle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
<br />
<br />
He is survived by his daughter, Heidi Holley, Newton; two sisters Mrs. Dale (Betty)
Hughes, Knoxville and Mrs. Donald (Marsha) Brookhart of Livonia, Missouri; his companion,
Arlene Davoit of West Des Moines; and two granddaughters. Memorials may be made
to Hospice Kavanagh House.
