Richard Wayne Hall, a science teacher at I-35 High School, was killed Tuesday, July 1, 1975 when the excavation ditch in which he was working at Truro for the Lytton Plumbing and Heating Company of Truro collapsed. He was 30 years of age.
Mr. Hall was born December 7, 1944, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Glen Hall and Alberta Kendrick Hall. He was a graduate of Knoxville High School – Class of 1963 and Northwest Missouri State College and a resident of Truro at the time of his death.
The marriage of Richard Hall and Barbara VanVark took place on December 18, 1965, in Knoxville, Iowa. The couple had two children.
Mr. Hall was active in Truro’s social and civic affairs, serving as Truro city councilman, a volunteer fireman, and a Boy Scout advisor. He was also a member of the Truro Lions Club.
Mr. Hall was affiliated with the United Methodist Church of Truro.
Surviving Mr. Hall is his wife, Barbara, of Truro; his son Todd, and daughter, Melissa. Also, surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hall of Knoxville, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Kendrick of Knoxville, Iowa, the maternal grandparents, and one brother, Ronald Hall of Knoxville, Iowa. Two sisters survive Mr. Hall. They are Beverly Sanderson of Dallas, Iowa, and Rebecca Smith of Knoxville, Iowa.
Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
Funeral services for Richard Hall were conducted Saturday, July 5, 1975, at 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church of Truro with burial at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa. The Rev. Eldon Ringle of St. Charles, Iowa, officiated.
