Services for Merwin Bruere Hollingshead, 68, who died July 3, 1983 at University Hospital, Iowa City, were held July 6 at the First Christian Church.
Williams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Interment was in Breckenridge Cemetery, Marion County.

Rev. William Travis officiated at the services. Music was provided by Dawn McKay, organist, Joan Arnott,
pianist, and Dr. Gordon Arnott, vocalist.

Pallbearers were James V. Hollingshead, Robert Tallman, Ken Loynachan, Verue Roberts, Max Hall and Stan Kimm. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Wilson, Eugene, Cummings Bob Meckley, Russell Crozier, Max Harsin and Don Neifert.

Mr. Hollingshead was born September 16, 1914 in the Plymouth neighborhood east of Knoxville, the son of George Earl and Mary Edith Bruere Hollingshead.
He attended Victory Rural School and graduated in 1933 from Knoxville High School.

He was married to Amy Jeanne Harsin on December 24, 1936.

He farmed all his life and also was a carpenter, miner, and worked at the VA Hospital.

He was a member trustee and Elder of the Plymouth Church until its closing. In 1972 he became a member of the First Christian Church in Knoxville, and became an Elder in 1982, He was also a member of the Marion Co. N.F.O., Faith Sunday School Class, and various community activities.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Kathy) Donnelly; one son, Gary; one brother, Harold; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be designated to the Bell Tower Fund at the First Christian Church.
