Memorial services for Marce D. Ward, 90, of Crystal River, Fla., who died on Thursday,
November 23, 2000, at his home, were held on Thursday, December 7, at Bybee & Davis
Funeral Home. Rev. Peter J. Peterson officiated at the services. Jim Kidder was
organist. Interment was at the Lincoln Cemetery.

Marce was born on January 26, 1910, in Knoxville, the son of Thurman E. Ward and
Cora P. (Shivvers) Ward. He attended Knoxville schools and graduated with the class
of 1927.

He married Louise Brower on October 8, 1934. He served in the U.S. Navy for 27 1/2
years. He also served during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was at Iwo Jima and
Pearl Harbor during WWII. He attained the rank of Lt. Commander before his retirement.

After retirement, he farmed in Knoxville and for the last twenty years has also
main tained a residence in Crystal River, Fla.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 222 A.F. & A.M. in Panama City, Retired Officers
Association of Washington, D.C., and the Crystal River United Methodist Church.

Marce was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas E. Ward; and two sisters,
Pauline Henning and Lena Hale.

He is survived by his wife, Louise of Crystal River, Fla.; a son, Vernon Ward of
Crystal River; two brothers, Ted Ward of Knoxville and Ira Ward of Tampa, Fla.;
two sisters, Helen Roberts and Frances Caswell, both of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren;
many great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
