Lorin Doyle Hatch, Jr., ships service mate, third class U. S. N. R., son of Lorin Doyle Hatch, Sr., and Mabel Jenkins Hatch, was born February 10, 1925, near Coin, and and lost his life at sea, near Okinawa, on May 18, 1945, aged 20 years, 3 months, 8 days.

In the spring of 1925 with his parents, the deceased moved to a farm near Shenandoah, where the family resided for five years.

In 1930 he came to Knoxville with his parents and lived on a farm about five miles southeast in the Valley neighborhood. He attended Scott school, and after completing the eighth grade went to Knoxville high school and graduated with the class of 1942.

The next year he remained at home, and in July, 1943, left for service in the navy.

He united with the Methodist church in Knoxville in 1941. He attended Sunday school in the Valley neighborhood in his earlier years and later at Knoxville.

Besides his parents, the deceased is survived by two brothers, Robert J., in the navy, and Corwin M., in the Sea-Bees; also a sister. Mary Elizabeth, at home, his grandfather, Stephen Jenkins. of Knoxville; and grandfather and grandmother, Mr and Mrs. 0. C. Hatch, of Coin, and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held from the Methodist church, Sunday, during the morning church service.
