Lela Mae (Simmons) Wensel was born November 3, 1945, daughter of Ardery D. (1909-1989) and Jean Elizabeth Chambers Simmons, in Knoxville, Iowa.

She grew up in the Marion County area and attended the Knoxville schools and graduated in 1963 from Pleasantville High School in Pleasantville, Iowa.

She married her high school sweetheart, Don Wensel.

Lela had many hobbies and kept busy making their house a home.

After a courageous battle with cancer, she died on January 9, 2015, at their home in Florida with her devoted husband by her side.

Those to cherish her memory are her husband Don Ray Wensel of Florida, Sister, Dixie Feagins of Knoxville, brother Larry Simmons of Newton, aunt and uncle, Myrtle and Phillip Simmons, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents and brother-in-law Charles Feagins.

Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of the arrangements.
