Funeral services for Ken Woody, age 92 of Knoxville, will be held on Tuesday at
the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Graceland
Cemetery. was born on March 1, 1919 in rural Harvey, Iowa, the
son of Ray Woody and Faye (Pearson) Woody.

Ken grew up on the Woody farmstead in Marion County and attended Knoxville High
School. Following graduation, he went on to begin farming on his own.<br />
<br />
On June 28, 1942 Ken was united in marriage to Wilma Faye Colwell at the Colwell
home. The two lived on the Woody Farmstead from 1942 to 1953 when they moved to
their farm in Marion County.
They farmed there until Ken retired and they moved
to town in 1983. Ken enjoyed volunteering throughout the community in his retirement.
He and Faye loved traveling the world and sharing many new experiences.

Ken was a lifelong member of the state and local Farm Bureau where he held offices
as President, Vice President, Secretary and State Director. He was a delegate to
the National Farm Bureau Convention for 2 years. Ken was on the Board of Directors
for the Marion and Mahaska County Farm Service.
He was a charter member of the Marion
County Health Board, a member of the Ambassador Club, Rotary Club, Marion County
Community Improvement Council and an Election Board Judge.
He was a member of the
First Presbyterian Church of Knoxville where he was an Elder and Deacon. He also
served as an Elder and Deacon at Plymouth Presbyterian Church. In 1970, Ken received
the Knoxville Community Service Award.

Ken passed away on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the West Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation
Center at the age of 92 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Faye Woody; his wife, Wilma Faye;
and sisters, Marie Robinson and Alma Gene McCombs.
<br />
<br />
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters; Jewell (Larry) Hays of Cedar
Falls, Susan (Frank) Rhoades of Ankeny; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

<br />
Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. on Monday at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
