Open visitation will begin at 2:00 PM on Sunday at the Celebrate Community Church with family receiving friends from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

A Memorial Fund has been established at the Iowa State Savings Bank in Knoxville to be used for a Scholarship in Kayla's name.

Kayla Nicole Thomas was born April 27, 1993 in Bolivar, Missouri to Shelly and Matthew Thomas. Kayla grew up in Knoxville and was a senior at Knoxville High School. She enjoyed competing on the Knoxville High School debate team and also enjoyed cheerleading.

She loved to sing, to go shopping, and to get dressed up in nice clothes, make-up, and bling-bling.

Kayla was good hearted, compassionate, and always worried about others. She always wanted to make sure everyone felt special and wanted to be friends with everyone. She enjoyed family vacations to Florida and Wisconsin and loved to watch motocross with her very best friend Katy Myers.

Kayla died on October 6, 2010 at the age of 17 years, 5 months, and 9 days. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Byard Braley and James Thomas; and great grandfathers: Miles Irving and Lowell Dachenbach.

Kayla will be missed by her parents: Shelly & Brian Braley and Matthew Thomas; her sister Alexandra Thomas; grandparents: Pam & Lee Dachenbach, Marcia Braley, and Sylvia Thomas; great grandparents: Edna Irving and Mary Dachenbach; Aunts & Uncles: Trevor Dachenbach, Brad (Rhonda) Braley, Bruce (Carolyn) Braley, Brenda (Steve) Wright, and Andrew (Ann) Thomas; many cousins, relatives, and friends.
