Funeral services were held for Mrs. June Held, who died March 28 following a long
Illness.

June, daughter of Edgar and Maggie McCorkle, was born July 12, 1905 at Columbia.

She attended the Columbia elementary school, Knoxville High School, Simpson College
and Drake University. She had retired after 30 years teaching, the last 14 of which
were at the Zearing – McCallsburg Community School.

She was united in marriage to Rev. Roy W. Held on Jan. 1, 1930 at the Little Brown
Church with her cousin Rev. Bernice Finch officiating. They had resided in Geneva
since December.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Norval and Verle McCorkle,
and one sister-in-law Mrs. Lena McCorkle.

Survivors include her husband, Roy; four sons, Marvin L. and Garnett W. of Tuscon,
Ariz;, Byron G. of Charles City and Curtis N. of St. Paul, Minn,; daughter Mrs.
Virginia Taylor of Rockford, Ill,; one brother Waldo McCorkle of Knoxville; Sister-in-law
Mrs. Norval McCorkle of Columbia; and twelve grandchildren.
