Jerry Lowell Stevens was born on June 1, 1943, in Centerville, Iowa. He was one of the identical twins born to Juanita Ruth Lowe and LeRoy Edgar Stevens.

Jerry attended school in Knoxville. On May 13, 1964, Jerry was inducted into the United States Army.
He served as an expert rifleman in Vietnam.

Jerry Lowell Stevens was united in marriage to Carrie Kae McMillen on August 11, 1967.
To this union, two daughters were born. Jerry retired in 1997 after working 30 years at the Maytag Company in Newton.

For the next few years, he worked at Des Moines Auto Auction, Knoxville Super Car Wash, and as custodian for the Knoxville Schools,
where he was able to visit and laugh with many friends in the community.

Jerry Stevens passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in
Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 64 years, 10 months, and 2 days. Jerry’s father preceded him in death.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife of over 40 years, Carrie of Knoxville; two daughters, Stacie Nichols
and her husband Scott of Pleasant Hill and Mistie Stevens of Kansas City; two grandchildren,
Eric and Kaelyn Nichols of Pleasant Hill; his mother, Juanita Stevens of Knoxville;
his identical twin brother, James Stevens, his wife, Charlotte, and their son, James Aaron of Swan.

A Celebration of Life Service was held on Monday, April 7, 2008, at Williams Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Voss officiating. The interment was in Graceland
Cemetery in Knoxville. Organist was Darlene Mooberry. Musical selections were “One Day at a Time”, “Ordinary Miracles” and “One More Day”.

The casket bearers were Dave Harrison, Don Hunt, Denny McDonald, Kade McMillen, Troy Peterson, and Justin Staley.Jerry Stevens
Honorary casket bearers were Ray Denny, Brandon Kuyava, Jim McMillen, Jimmy McMillen,
Eric Peterson, Justin Peterson, Kent Peterson, Justin J. Staley, and James Aaron
Stevens. Memorials in lieu of flowers will be used to purchase a memorial bench
for Auld Park in Knoxville.
