Services for Jane Estella Applegate, 72, of Knoxville, who died May 29, 1985 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, were held May 21 at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home.
Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.
Rev. William Travis officiated at the services Music was provided by Merrill Womach.
Pallbearers were Wyatt Applegate, Graham Fee, Gary and Chris Clingman, Jim Worrell, and Dean Jones.
Mrs. Applegate was born on March 14, 1913 in Hartford, the daughter of Virgil Sylvester and Nancy Jane Riherd Buttrey.
She attended Knoxville schools, Graduating in 1921.
On March 4, 1939 in Albia, she married Corwin Wayne Applegate.
She worked for many years as an insurance secretary, retiring in 1975.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, her parents, and two brothers.
She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Teter of Knoxville and Betty Roccforte of San Diego, Cal.
A memorial has been established to the American Lung Association.
