James Thomas Gregory was born April 4, 1901 in Knoxville, the son of Worth and Sylvia Whaley.Gregory and died February 7 at the Westport Care Center in West Des Moines.

Funeral services were held from the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home on February 11 with Dr. Wayne Shoemaker officiating. Mrs. Lois Anderson was the organist. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery.
Gregory graduated from Knoxville High School in 1921.

On December 27, 1922 he was united in marriage in Des Moines to Gayle Reed of Nevada. He was appointed State Conservation officer in
1941 and retired in 1966.- He served in northwest Iowa' at Sheldon and was later in charge of Butler and Bremer counties. The couple made their home in Shell Rock. He was list stationed at Hampton where his duties included Franklin county.

He moved to Geneva in 1962. Since 1973, the couple resided in Des Moines.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Harold Gregory.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Lee (Ellen LaRue) Davis of Des Moines; and two sons, James of Fort Madison and Richard of Vermillion, S.D.
