Services for Herbert Lewis Rees, 68, Summerfield, Fla., who died on April 1, 1993,
were April 5, 1993, at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Ocala, Fla., with special
services conducted by the Silver Springs Moose Lodge No. 1199, Belleview. Burial
was at the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Ocala, Fla.
Herbert was born on Feb. 6,
1925, on a farm near Pleasantville, the son of Cyril and Edith Rees.
Herbert attended
Knoxville Community Schools, Iowa State University and Simpson College and was later
employed as a research and development scientist for Armstrong World Industries
in Lancaster, Pa. He retired from Armstrong and moved to Summerfield, Fla. in 1980.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II. He was
a member of the Silver Springs Moose Lodge No. 1199; the Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post No. 10733, Belleview; and the Silver Springs Shores Elks Lodge No. 2730.
He
was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Rees of Summerfield,
Fla.; one daughter, Catherine Vincent of East Petersburgh, Pa.; two sons, Thomas
Rees of Montgomery, Ala. and Timothy Rees of Landcaster, Pa.; two brothers, Donald
Rees and James Rees, both of Pleasantville; and five grandchildren.
