Retired Lt. Col. Harold Dean Dyer, 81, of Midwest City, Okla. who was a former Knoxville
resident died on Dec. 27, 2005, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Services
were held Jan. 5, 2006, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Midwest City,
Okla. Harold was born on June 11, 1924, in Des Moines to Don and Almeda Dyer of
Pleasantville.
He married Francis Marilyn Dwigans on Sept. 22, 1946. He joined the
Army in 1943, and landed in the second wave at Utah Beach during World War II. He
was a Korean War veteran and retired from the Army in 1966.
Harold then began a
20-year career as head supply officer at Central State Hospital in Norman before
retiring in 1986. His many hobbies included the Midwest City Senior Golf Association,
Military Order of World Wars, gardening, traveling with his wife and University
of Oklahoma football.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Greg (Marsha)
Dyer of Norman, Pam (Fred) Cheyney of Puyallup, Wash., Sheryl (Brent) Botts of Colorado
Springs, Colo. and Janet (Terry) Davis of Middleton, Wis.; six grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; a sister, Martha Langebartels and a brother Ralph (Donna) Dyer
of Pleasantville.
