U.S. Veteran Edwin L. Salsberry, 74, of Kingston, Illinois, died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at his home.

Born September 5, 1941, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Cleo A. Salsberry, Edwin married Judith C. Allen on July 2, 1965, in DeKalb.

Edwin graduated from Knoxville High School Class of 1959. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. Edwin was employed by Barber Greene and later Caterpillar for over 38 years. He was an avid bowler and golfer.

He is survived by his wife Judy; son Mark (Jenny) Salsberry, Sycamore; daughter Christine (Sean) Gale, Crystal Lake; grandchildren Nicholas, Chloe, Chelsea, Eli, Delaney, Maggie, Sophie, Peter, and Abbie; sisters Patricia (Larry) VandeCamp, and Norma (Norman) Koons, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 615 North First Street, DeKalb, with the Rev. Joseph Gastiger officiating.

Full military honors by DeKalb American Legion, AmVets, and VFW Honor Guard will follow the service. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.

The burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora.
