Memorial services for Don Dennison, 54, of Knoxville, who died January 15, 2000
were held January 19, 2000 after a tough battle with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma, were
held at the Church of Christ in Knoxville.
Officiates were Tim Stanwood, Dana Criswell
, and David Nuckols. Scripture readings were by Sam Dye, Bill LaHue, Mark Groenendyke
, and Lee McClune. Music was provided by song leaders Dana Criswell and David Nuckols.
Graveside services were on January 17, at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Honorary
bearers were Brad Campbell, Deverne Dixon, Kyle Dixon, Clark Ogden, and Scott Pearson.
Bruce Roof, Jim Stittsworth, Tom Wadle, and Ted Ward Jr.
Don was born on April 7,
1945 in Knoxville the son of Bereniece LaBurnia Campbell and Donald William Dennison.
He grew up on a farm seven miles south of Knoxville, sharing his childhood with
one brother, Dan.
Don attended New Albany Country School through 4th grade. He completed
his education in the Knoxville schools; graduating in 1963. Upon graduation, Don
attended Iowa Barber College in Des Moines. He barbered until 1977 and resumed this
profession again in 1989 and continued until his death. In the interim, Don owned
and operated a Purina Feed dealership in Knoxville.
On June 2, 1968, he was united
in marriage to Pamela Jean Ogden in Fonda, Iowa. To this union three children
were born, Melissa, Mark, and Ross.
Don was a member of the Iowa National Guard.
He was an active participant in the Morning Kiwanis Club, weekly bowling league
as well as any sporting event. He loved to play basketball, golf, and farm. He also
enjoyed watching all football and basketball games. Don’s passion was his love the
Lord and His Word, He loved to sing praise songs, fellowship with friends, and the
ministry.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Pam of Knoxville; one daughter
Melissa Dennison, Denver, Colorado; two sons, Mark and Ross Dennison of Searcy,
Arkansas; his parents, Bill and Bereniece Dennison of Knoxville; one brother, Dan
Dennison, of Knoxville.
Memorials may be made to The Church-Missions. Arrangements
were made by Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.
