Derrick Dwayne Rankin was born on February 11, 1983 in Knoxville, Iowa, the son
of David Michael Delp and Deborah Rankin.

He grew up in Knoxville and Gainsborough, Tennessee. Following high school, Derrick
went on to further his education at DMACC for Accounting.

Derrick enjoyed music, concerts, sports and hanging out with friends, but most of
all he cherished time spent with his children and family. He was an avid Hawkeye
and Cowboys fan.

Derrick passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Bright Kavanagh House in Des
Moines.

He was preceded in death by his father; step-father, Todd Carruthers and great-grandparents.

Survivors include his children, Jude and Alivia; mother, Deb Carruthers of Des Moines;
siblings, Cody, Jaycob and Robbie all of Des Moines; grandparents, Chick and Linda
Rankin of Knoxville, along with aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
