Funeral services for Chrystie Marie Norton, 15, of Knoxville, who died on Sunday, January 14, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident Saturday near the Marion and Lucas county border.
Services were held on Wednesday, January 17, at First United Methodist Church.

Rev. Peter J. Peterson officiated at the services. Music was provided by Jim Kidder, organist, and Katie Davis. Interment was at Gosport Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jon Allen, Bruce Norton, Cory Burgett, Arlie Norton, Walter Norton, and Cory Shilling.

Chrystie was born on June 20, 1985, in Knoxville, the daughter of Bruce Norton and Rhonda Shilling. She had lived in the Knoxville area all of her life and was currently a sophomore at Knoxville High School.

Chrystie was a member of the Debate Team and the Science Club. Her favorite subject was science. Chrystie was a very motivated student in all subjects and her goal was to graduate with honors. She enjoyed hanging out with friends, and spending time with her family.

Chrystie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Rhonda Shilling-Chambers and Kevin and father, Bruce Norton all of Knoxville; three sisters, Mandy Bingham (Anthony Branson), Sheri Allen (Jon) both of Knoxville and Kelly Norton of Newton; maternal grandmother, Ashley Alexandria of Austin, Texas; maternal grandfather, Gary Shilling of Knoxville; maternal great-grandmother, Thurlene Shilling of Knoxville and many other family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Knoxville High School Science Club.
