Christopher Jack Sandmeier, 38, passed away peacefully Friday, April 5, 2013 at Kavanagh House surrounded by family. Chris was born in Omaha, NE on August 24, 1974 to Kathy and Jack Sandmeier.

Chris graduated from Knoxville High School in Knoxville, IA and attended Iowa State University.

He married Courtney Burow on July 13, 2012 after twelve years together.

Chris' memory will be cherished by his wife, Courtney Burow Sandmeier; two children, Grace, seven, and Jackson, six, all of West Des Moines; mother, Kathy (Steve) Huff of Knoxville; father, Jack (Tam) Sandmeier of Tulsa, OK; grandmothers, Margaret Cooney and Irene Sandmeier; sister, Tracy Sandmeier and nephew, Hunter Gray, all of Knoxville and brother, Andrew Sandmeier of Pella, IA.

Chris loved sports of all kinds, especially watching his Cyclones, the Oakland Raiders and the PGA Tour. He loved volunteering at his children's schools and helping with their homework.

He also worked at the Cheesecake Factory in West Des Moines. Chris will be remembered as a wonderful and loving father who adored his children and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be Tuesday, April 9, at 2 p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 4126 Ingersoll Ave., Des Moines, IA, 50312.

A memorial gathering will also be held Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1202 Woodland Dr., Knoxville, IA, 50138

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family.
