Mr. Young was born Dec. 10, 1914, the son of James B. and Myrtle Shirer Young.
On
Jan. 10, 1940, he married Pat Dingess.
He was retired from his position of manager
at Thermogas Co. and had served as mayor, city councilman, on the Water Board, the
Chamber of Commerce, the Senior Citizens Center Board, CrossRoads, and the Knoxville
Development Industrial Corporation.
In 1983 he was honored with the Governor's Volunteer
Award and in 1984 was awarded the Ccmmunity Service Award.
He was preceded in death
by his parents and one brother, James.
He is survived by four sons, James, Chuck
and John, all of Knoxville, and Joe of Louisville, Colo.; and eight grandchildren.Burial
at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. John Beebout officiating.
A memorial has been established
to the Knoxville Senior Citizen Center.
