Bonnie Ruth (Shives) Kaster was born in Knoxville, Iowa November 29, 1944 to Lee and Ruth (Schrader) Shives.

She attended Knoxville elementary until moving to the country where she graduated from 8th grade at Gosport Community School.

She completed high school in Knoxville graduating with the class of 1962. She kept in touch with many of her classmates meeting and going out to lunch with them.

She married and was later divorced from LeRoy Kaster. To this union 2 children were born, Douglas LeRoy and Kimberly Ruth.

She lived and worked in Des Moines, at Equitable of Iowa Insurance for 30 years then with ING and Citi Group until she retired. The family was very important to her. She enjoyed the sports and activities with her children and more recently with her grandchildren. Her great-grandson was the newest joy in her life.

Bonnie enjoyed playing cards, going to the state fair, and casinos, reading, traveling, and visiting family.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star organization.

Bonnie passed away on August 18, 2015, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.Bonnie Shives

She is survived by her children, Douglas (Melanie) Kaster and Kimberly (Paul) Knode all of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Joslynn, Jenae, and Ethan; one great-grandson, Lee; step-father, Roy Loney of Knoxville; siblings, Barbara, (James) Walker of Grand Junction, Betty Clark of Knoxville, Bryan Shives of Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law Garry (Skeeter) Clark.
