Funeral service for Arthur Frank "Stubby" Wagner, 88, of Orange Park, Fla., formerly
of Knoxville, who died August 12, at Holly Point Nursing Center in Orange Park,
were held August 18, 1997, at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial was at
Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

The Rev, Bob Ward officiated at the services. Music was provided by Darlene Mooberry,
organist, and Jim Kidder, vocalist. Pallbearers were Gordon Agan, Trevor Boyd, Bob
Edwards, Dave Lucas, Dick Northcote, and Richard Randol. Honorary bearers were Earl
Morgan and Paul Morgan.

Stubby was born November 21, 1908, in Davenport, the son of Harry and Clara Guilch
Wagner.

He was united in marriage to Lena Evelyn Owen on May 26, 1929, in Knoxville. The
couple lived in Pella where he was manager of the United Food Store.

They moved to Knoxville in 1933, where he managed the United store in Knoxville.
He was manager until the store closed in 1958. He then opened his own grocery store,
"Stubby's IGA", and continued until 1973, when the store closed and he retired.

He later worked for 10 years at Westridge Manor Nursing Home in Knoxville. He was
a former school board member, a member of the Knoxville Rotary, and the First United
Methodist Church in Knoxville, and served on many committees and held several offices
in the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a sister, Vera.

He is survived by a daughter, Connie Walsh of Newville, Pa.; a son, Ronald Sr. of
Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Eddie of Knoxville, and Kenny of Kanawha; four
sisters, Lillian Chambers of Corwith, Melva Farrell of Perry, Vonis Coverdell of
Atlanta, Ga., and Rita Hayes of Knoxville; nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.
