Keith Edwin Zimmerman, 77, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at his home in Oskaloosa.

He was born Friday, May 24, 1935, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Horace Alton and Lela Bonita Conrey Zimmerman. Ed graduated from the Knoxville High School with the class of 1953. In 1953, Ed joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict.

Following his discharge he went to work at Iowa Power and Light and retired from there in 1994 after 27 years.Ed loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and going to motorcycle rallies with Jan. He also enjoyed Iowa Hawkeyes Football, and attending MacKenzie McGraw's sporting events. Ed was a member of the Oskaloosa American Legion, ABATE Iowa, the Shriners, V.F.W. and the American Legion Honor Guard.

Ed is survived by a son: Kevin (Patricia) Zimmerman of Newport News, Virginia; a daughter: Kelly (Randy) Hayes of Ackworth, Iowa; 4 grandchildren: Alissa Edwards, Alex Hayes, Zachary Zimmerman and Jacob Zimmerman; 2 great grandchildren: Jaycee and Aidan Hayes; 2 sisters: Katie McCoy of Pleasant Hill and Kay (Blaine) Vriezlaar of Monroe; a brother: Howard Zimmerman of Arizona; a special buddy: MacKenzie McGraw; his best friend: Joe Smith; and all of Janice Williams family.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life: Janice Williams; his parents; and a brother: Ivan Zimmerman.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11:30 A.M. at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Eds wish his body has been cremated and no visitation is planned.

Graveside military rites will be given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W. Memorials may be made to Iowa Hospice.
