Services for James David VanHemert, 33, West Des Moines, who died October 13, 1983 at his home, were held October 15 at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery. Rev. Wayne K. Hoehns officated at the services.

Music was provided by Jim Kidder, organist, and John Crawford, soloist. Pallbearers were Rick Roberts, Mike Dreibelbeis, Ray Todd, Bob McClung, John M. Kamerick, and Ken Vinson.

Mr. VanHemert was born February 17, 1950 in Knoxville, the son of Neal and Margaret VanHemert.

He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1968 and from the University of Iowa in 1972.

He married Joan Johnson on September 2, 1972 in Oxford. For six years he was the Marketing Manager for Storage Technology Corporation in Minneapolis, Minn. And held the same position for the past year in Des Moines.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, and the Za Ga Zig Shrine Temple in Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Jeffery Neal at home; and five sisters, Mrs. Jim (Mary Jane) Dreibelbeis of West Liberty, Mrs. John 0. (Carolyn) Kamerick, Mrs. William (Linda) Rankin, and Brenda Beaver all of Knoxville, and Mrs. Dennis (Neala) Heggen of Des Moines.
