Memorial services for David Wayne Steward, 41, of El Paso, Texas, who died September
28, in El Paso, were held October 12, 1996, at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Inturnment was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. The Rev. Steven Bagby officiated
at the services. Music was provided by Jim Kidder, organist.

David was born September
14, 1955, in Praesidio, Calif., the son of Wayne Kenneth and Helen Maxine Hedrick
Steward. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1973. He graduated from Central
College in 1976, with a BA in elementary education.

He taught in Knoxville, Winfield,
Kan., Twin Cedars, and Godley, Texas schools, and also worked as a juvenile worker
and monitor for South Central Iowa Youth and Family Services. He received a MA in
Religion Education in 1979 from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City,
Kan. He also attended seminary school at Graceland College in Lamoni and in Sioux
Falls, S.D. He worked as a youth minister and counselor in Knoxville, Sioux Falls,
S.D., and Ft. Madison from 1976-83.

David received a Master of Divinity Degree from
Southwestern Baptist Thological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1985. He then served
as an assistant minister of education at the First Baptist Church in Joshua, Texas.
He served the First Southern Baptist Church in Augusta, Kan. for 10 years as a youth
and education minister. He had recently moved to El Paso, Texas.

He was preceded
in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his parents,
of rural Knoxville; a sister, Kathy Bower of Des Moines; and a niece, Stephanie,
and nephew, Ryan, also of Des Moines.

Memorials may be made to the Attica United
Methodist Church.
