Mary Louise (Thompson) Spain, 82, of Danville, Illinois, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center from complications of a stroke suffered eight months earlier.
She was born on April 27, 1930 in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Grace Novella and Oliver Leroy Thompson.
She married Howard Spain in 1957. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; her husband and her son, Bruce.
She is survived by a daughter, Laurie Chambliss Avalon and husband, Joe, of Huntingdon, Tennessee; daughter, Melanie Magara and husband, Jim, of Sycamore and daughter, Kathleen Swiersz and husband, Mike, of Danville; best friend, Ron McDaniel of Danville; grandchildren, David Chambliss of Martin, Tennessee, Tony Chambliss and wife, Wendy, of Palmerton, Pa., Ben Magara of Sycamore, and Julia and Madeline Swiersz of Danville and great-grandchildren, Nate, Christopher, Matthew and Justin Chambliss of Palmerton, Pa.
