Virginia Ingle Sharp was born on July 17, 1917 in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick Ora and Annie (Beintema) Davis.
Virginia was raised in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Walter Winfield Sharp on May 27, 1936 in Ottumwa.
Virginia helped out on the farm, and also was a cook at Shamrock Café, Owner of Park Lane Cafe, DeJongs Nursing Home and at the V.A. Hospital. She retired in 1979.
Virginia was a member of the Methodist Women’s Society and the Federal Workers Union. She enjoyed cooking and traveling. Most of all, she loved being with her family and giving out hugs. She had a strong will and believed in working hard.
Virginia passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Knoxville Hospital at the age of 96 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter in 1961; children, Leonard Sharp and Shirley Barber; and siblings, Bertha Koopman, Maye Speed, Nora Smith, Elmer Davis and Maxine Wynn.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Leland (June) Sharp of Modesto, California, Eloise (Chester) Bricker of Green Valley, Arizona, Deloris Breuklander of Knoxville, Mary (Robert) Pinegar of Marysville and Robin (Skip) Hicks of Carlsborg, Washington; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Sharp of Knoxville; 19 grandchildren, Lee Sharp, Bonnie Stalzer, Kristi Dursky, Lela McKinney, Jeff Sharp, John Fedro, Joan Fedro, Karen Ewing, Kathleen Sharp, John Breuklander, Walter Barber, Scott Barber, Monte Pinegar, Angela Bakalar, Sharon Keegle, Heidi Hicks, Jessica Hicks, Holly Wilkinson and Shawn Hicks; 20 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
A visitation will begin at noon on Thursday, October 31 with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville with Rev. Vickie Steffes officiating.
Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery in Pershing. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Zion United Methodist Church.
