Services for Bernice Lucille (Core) Proffitt, 80, who died Dec. 7, 1981 at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held Dec. 9 at Mason's Funeral home.
Interment was in Pleasantville Cemetery.
Rev. Robert Shreve officiated at the services.
Mrs. Proffitt was born Feb. 4, 1901 in Marion Co., the daughter of Reuben and Catherine, Johnson Core.
She taught school in the Pinchey Neighborhood.
She was married to Guy Wilbur Proffitt on Mar. 12, 1924. She was a member of the St. Paul's Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by a son, Phillip Guy Proffitt (b.April 23, 1932- b.January 11, 2017) and a daughter, Marilyn Shoemaker, both of Pleasantville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
