Montfort C. Mitchell, 84, passed away on September 26, 2007. Dr. Mitchell actively practiced and encouraged holistic health care through Chiropractic for more than 55 years. Using his intelligence, sensitivity, skills, and talents, he brought relief to thousands of people in the Phoenix community. He was an extremely talented, friendly, warm, compassionate, and the gentleman who sincerely loved his fellow man.
In addition to his professional life, he enjoyed being a pilot. He learned to fly while serving his country during WWII. He was stationed in the European theatre. As a decorated P-38 pilot, he achieved the rank of Captain in the United States Army Air Corps. In 1951 after graduating from Chiropractic College in Indiana, he moved to Phoenix to establish his practice.
He loved the freedom, history, opportunity, and lore of the American Southwest. As a young professional he pursued interests in hunting, fishing, horseback riding, camping, and boating. In later years he took up water and snow-skiing, hiking, and walking. He also enjoyed watching professional sports.
He is survived by 1 sister, 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, 710 West Bethany Home Road, Phoenix on Friday, October 12th, 2007 at 11 am. 
In lieu of gifts, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Arizona in the name of the deceased.
Dr. Mitchell was a talented and compassionate humanitarian. He made the world a better place while he was here. His passing has left an emptiness in our hearts and lives. We will miss him.
