Funeral services for Betty Darlene (Brooks) Mitchell, 65, of Orland Park, Illinois, formerly
of Knoxville, who died February 4, 2000, at Christ Hospital in Oaklawn, Illinois, were
held February 8, at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville.

Pastor Bob Morris officiated at the service. Music was provided by the soloist, Vicki King, and the organist
Geoffrey Shultz. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery. The casket bearers were Bob Brooks,
Benny Brooks, James Brooks, Matt McKay, Norm Chrisman, and Andy McKay.

Betty was born on October 19, 1934, in Knoxville, the daughter of J. Will and Dorothy Rozenberg
Brooks. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1953.

She married Jim Mitchell on April 10, 1954, in Knoxville. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Betty
retired in 1998 Mitchell as an Emergency Room Technician at Knoxville Area Community
Hospital. She moved to Orland Park on August 1, 1998, to be closer to her brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Janice) McKay, and their children, Matt, Andy, and Kylie and Julie Cameron and
her children Jessi and Jami, all of Knoxville; one son Jim Mitchell H and his wife,
Sharon and their children, Kayla, Krista, John, and Joe of Urbandale; two brothers,
Lyle Brooks and his wife, Judy, and Jay Brooks, all of Orland Park; and many other
relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to Knoxville Fire and rescue and First United Methodist Church.
