Mary Jean Kirchner, 81 of Lone Tree, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Bickford Cottages in Iowa City after a long illness.

There will be no public services. The Sorden-lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Mary Jean's arrangements and her family. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Mary Jean was born July 12, 1935. She was raised in Solon and graduated from Knoxville High School. She then graduated from Mercy Hospitals' nursing program. She worked many years as an R.N. in Lone Tree then at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in the Department of Registration.

Mary was united in marriage to Bruce Gaile Kirchner on On Sept 23, 1956.

Mary Jean is survived by her daughter, Kathy Kay Miller and her husband, Nick of Hills and grandson, Marshall Miller of Hills.

Also surviving, one brother, Bernard Slofer and his wife, Mary Louise of East Winthrop, Maine; nephew, James T. Smith and his wife, Patti of Waukesha, Wisconsin; a great-niece and great-nephew.

Mary Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bruce Kirchner(b.Jan 9, 1931-d.Nov. 30, 2010), a brother and a sister.

She was loved by all and she will be deeply missed.
